Survivor's Guilt

from Argyle Park by Catching Quiet

/

lyrics

I've been hanging with these friends
That I haven't seen in years,
Their middle school mentality
Never really worked for me.
And Doc says
I feel like a ghost
I just hope that there's a name for this syndrome.

I want to know what's wrong with me.
I've got way too many questions to get answers in the backseat.
Though we tried our best to get undressed,
I just feel naked when you're with me.

I'm keeping up with everyone I can
Out of necessity and a failing sense of urgency.
Mikey never texts,
And Carly never lets me
Live the old me down.
But I've had real friends for a few years now,
And we're headlong on the fast track
To getting out of this town.
There's a million things going right for me,
So why don't I let it make me happy?

I want to know what's wrong with me.
I've got way too many questions to get answers in the backseat.
Though we tried our best to get undressed,
I just feel naked when you're with me.

I want to know what's wrong with me
So I take long walks in parking lots.
Watch the ripples in the rainbows on the oil,
Distorted irony that keeps me out of trouble.

Hey Doc,
Thanks for keeping me okay.
You said you know I’m gonna be somebody someday.
You know I’m gonna be somebody someday,
You know I’m gonna be somebody someday.
I guess us ghosts are better off in our own way.
